  • Practice and procedure update: Legal practitioner access to finalised files for family law proceedings

    On 10 May 2025, the Courts will automatically end legal practitioners’ access to family law files on the Commonwealth Courts Portal (CCP) 60 days after all applications on the file are finalised. For those files already finalised as at 10 May 2025, access will cease on 11 July 2025. This change is being implemented as part of the Courts’ continuous efforts to strengthen and ensure security and functionality of our systems.

  • Affidavit of service by post (divorce)

    This form is used by a person filing a sole application for divorce who is serving their spouse with the divorce application by post.

  • Media release: Court launches new videos in 12 languages to help to people in migration cases

    The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) (the Court) officially launched three videos, each of which is available in 12 languages (including English). The videos form part of the Court’s overarching commitment to improving access to justice for culturally and linguistically diverse people from migrant and refugee backgrounds.

  • Public interest cases (Online files)

    In high profile cases or in cases where there is a significant number of media requests to access court documents, the Court may establish an online file via the Court’s website. Documents that are considered to be publicly accessible (consistent with Rule 2.11 of the Federal Circuit and Family Court (Division 2)(GFL) Rules 2021 (Cth)) will be published on this page. Material will be added here as it becomes available.

  • Scam emails and letters

    We have received reports that some people have received emails and letters purportedly sent from the Federal Circuit Court of Australia. These letters relate to migration matters and outline asserted decisions of the Court. The correspondence attaches new invoice/tax invoice amounts and threatens cancellation of visa, application or court process if payment is not received. They include the Federal Circuit Court logo and appear to be signed by someone working for the Court. An example is below:

    This form is used by a person filing a sole application for divorce who is arranging service of the divorce application on their spouse by hand.
