Senate Order for the production of indexed lists of departmental and agency files

On 30 May 1996 the Senate agreed to a motion moved by Senator Harradine requiring that each Minister table indexed file lists twice a year. This Senate order has a continuing effect, that is, producing and tabling of the file lists will always be required.

The Order covers the titles only of all files created in the Court for the relevant period, except those covered by the following exemptions:

  • files transferred to the Australian Archives;
  • case related files; and
  • files relating to the internal administration of the Court.

Request for access to file content will be considered under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.
