The Attorney-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, the Honourable Mark Dreyfus KC MP has announced the appointment of Judge Elizabeth Boyle, Mr Mark Anderson and Dr Juliet Behrens to Division 1 of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA).
Scam emails and letters
We have received reports that some people have received emails and letters purportedly sent from the Federal Circuit Court of Australia. These letters relate to migration matters and outline asserted decisions of the Court. The correspondence attaches new invoice/tax invoice amounts and threatens cancellation of visa, application or court process if payment is not received. They include the Federal Circuit Court logo and appear to be signed by someone working for the Court. An example is below:
Media release: Unrepresented litigants in Victoria navigating the family law system will benefit from pro-bono legal assistance scheme
The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (the Court) and the Victorian Bar have established a referral scheme for pro bono legal assistance (the Scheme) to help unrepresented litigants involved in family law proceedings in the Court, in Victoria.

Title change – Panel Family Consultants
This update is to inform the public and profession of a change to the title of private practitioners who prepare 62G family reports, pursuant to an appointment under the Family Law Regulations.
Practice and procedure update: Legal practitioner access to finalised files for family law proceedings
On 10 May 2025, the Courts will automatically end legal practitioners’ access to family law files on the Commonwealth Courts Portal (CCP) 60 days after all applications on the file are finalised. For those files already finalised as at 10 May 2025, access will cease on 11 July 2025. This change is being implemented as part of the Courts’ continuous efforts to strengthen and ensure security and functionality of our systems.
Subpoena changes
The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1) and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) are pleased to advise that in response to feedback from the profession, and as part of the Courts’ commitment to modernising court processes, we are introducing eFiling for family law 'Requests to issue a subpoena'. Initially, eFiling will only be available for subpoenas seeking the production of documents where there is an ongoing family law final orders application.
