Media Release: Appointments highlight career pathway through Courts to judicial office
On 8 September, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) (‘the Court’) celebrated 6 judicial appointments, made by the Attorney-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, the Honourable Michelle Rowland MP. Of those 6 appointments, 5 were sitting as Senior Judicial Registrars of the Court.
Itemised costs account
This itemised costs account form may be used when costs have been ordered to be paid as assessed. The party who is entitled to the costs being paid must serve an itemised costs account on the liable party to pay the costs. If there is no dispute, the party liable then pays the amount as ordered.

Legal costs in general federal law matters
In general federal law proceedings, the Court normally awards costs to a successful party. They are intended to reimburse a party (usually the successful one) for their legal costs. The costs awarded are normally only part of the costs incurred. These are referred to as party-party costs. Costs may be awarded before a final hearing; for example if a party has not complied with a timetable and the other party brings the matter back to court for further directions.
Acknowledgment – information from a family counsellor or family dispute resolution practitioner
This form is used by the person applying for a Part VII order where it is alleged that there has been abuse of a child by one of the parties to the proceedings or there has been family violence towards the child or a member of the child’s family by one of the parties to the proceedings. This form is not filed but is provided to the Judicial Officer hearing the case when you first appear in Court.
