      The Chief Executive Officer and Principal Registrar is appointed to assist the Chief Justice/Chief Judge to administer the Court. The CEO and Principal Registrar’s powers are broad (sections 85 and 251 of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia Act 2021), although the Chief Justice/Chief Judge may give direction (sections 85(3) and 251(3))

    • Practice and procedure update: Defaulters’ List to be piloted in Sydney

      The Chief Justice has issued Family Law Practice Direction – Defaulters’ List. The purpose of the Defaulters’ List is to ensure compliance with the rules of court, and any case management orders and directions made by a Registrar in family law or child support proceedings. The Defaulters’ List is intended to further the overarching purpose of family law practice and procedure.
    • How do I eFile further documents to support my application for divorce?

      You may be required or need to file further documents to support your application for divorce. The following documents can be eFiled on the Commonwealth Courts Portal.
    • Registry opening hours - December 2025 - January 2026

      Registry opening hours from 25 December 2025 to 7 January 2026 for all Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia registries and contact information during this time.
