      This page explains what you need to do to notify the Court if your application is urgent.
    • Indigenous: Overview

      The job of the Court is to help families work out problems they may have when families have separated. This is not a criminal court. It’s a civil court, set up to help families and to keep children safe. This court is sometimes called the Family Court.
    • Media release: New resources to help children whose parents are separating and involved in court proceedings

      Coinciding with National Children’s Week, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1) and (Division 2) (the Courts/FCFCOA) have proudly launched the Courts’ Children’s Charter and Kids’ Corner — two new initiatives designed to support children whose parents are separating and are involved in family law proceedings.
    • National webinars for the profession on the expansion of the Lighthouse model

      Webinars are scheduled for 22 and 24 November that are designed to inform the family law profession about the how the expanded Lighthouse model and associated case management processes will work.
    • Certificate of Readiness

      This form must be filed and served on the other party/ies in the proceeding and the Independent Children’s Lawyer (if one is appointed) by ordinary service, prior to the Compliance and Readiness hearing. 
    • Media release: New judicial appointments to the Sydney and Canberra registries of the FCFCOA (Division 2)

      The Attorney-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, the Honourable Mark Dreyfus KC MP announced on 27 September 2024 the appointment of Ms Lisa Doust and Ms Vanessa-Jane Leishman as Judges of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2).
    • Session chaired at the ‘Engaging Men & Boys to End the Cycle of Violence’ conference

      The FCFCOA’s Director – Family Violence, Access, Equity and Inclusion, Hayley Foster, chaired a session at the ‘Engaging Men & Boys to End the Cycle of Violence’ conference in Sydney this week.
    • Bankruptcy - Application

      This form is used to make an application for final orders pursuant to the Bankruptcy Act 1966 or Bankruptcy Regulations 1996 in a bankruptcy proceeding.
    • Submitting Notice

      This form is used if a party does not contest an application, response or reply.
    • FCFCOA Practice Direction: Working with interpreters

      This Practice Direction applies to all proceedings commenced on or after 1 December 2025 in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1) and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) (the Courts). This Practice Direction also applies to any proceedings commenced prior to this date unless unfair or impractical do to so.
