    • Update to the profession No. 4: Commencement of the new Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia

      On 1 September 2021, the Family Court of Australia (FCoA) and Federal Circuit Court of Australia (FCC) will be amalgamated to create the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA). Division 1 of the FCFCOA will deal only with family law matters, while Division 2 will deal with both family law and general federal law matters.
    • Family Law Practice Direction: Critical Incident List

      This Practice Direction applies to family law applications made in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (the Court) which are filed in circumstances where no parent is available to care for a child or children and orders are sought for parental responsibility to enable appropriate arrangements to be made for the child or children
    • Update to the profession: family law practice direction updates

      On 7 September 2022 two family law practice directions were updated. Family Law Practice Direction – Divorce Proceedings was updated at paragraph 2.17 to clarify that if a party files an Application in a Proceeding in a divorce, such as an application seeking orders for substituted service or to dispense with service, they are required to attend the hearing unless excused by the presiding Registrar.

    • Property and Financial Agreements and Consent Orders – What You Need To Know

      This guide (linked to the Attorney-General's Department) provides information to separating couples about the options for resolving their property arrangements, from an informal agreement through to filing consent orders with the court and litigating the matter in court.
    • Speech for the Launch of the Lighthouse Expansion

      Speech given by The Hon Chief Justice William Alstergren AO at the launch of the Lighthouse Expansion on 5 December 2022 in Sydney.
    • Compliance with parenting or other child-related orders

      This fact sheet provides information for people who allege a parenting or other child-related order has been contravened (breached). It explains some of the options available. When a parenting or other child-related order is made, each person affected by the order must comply with (follow) the order.
