      Update 2 on the expansion of Priority Property Pool Cases including a flow chart which summarises how Initiating Applications seeking financial orders will be considered by the Court from the point of filing.
    • Practice and procedure update: Family Law Rules

      Today the Courts are providing an update in relation to amendments to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Family Law) Rules 2021 (Family Law Rules). The Family Law Rules have been amended by the passage of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Family Law) Amendment (2024 Measures No.1) Rules 2024 which has been approved by a majority of Judges. The amendments take effect from 6 May 2024. The full instrument is available to download above.

    • Update to the profession: Consent orders forms updated

      The Chief Justice has approved changes to the following Court forms: Application for Consent Orders, and Annexure to Proposed Consent Parenting Order (Current Case). These forms have been amended in consultation with the Courts’ Family Violence Committee as part of the Courts’ commitment to improving and refining its processes.

      The aim of the PPP cases model of case management is to provide a simplified way of resolving property disputes which will minimise risk and legal costs, and best preserve the parties’ assets.

      The Magellan List is a case management pathway, designed to ensure that the cases which involve the most vulnerable children and are very resource intensive, are dealt with as effectively and efficiently as possible. These matters are identified as being appropriate for early transfer and listing in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1).
