    • Critical Incident List

      The Court has commenced a Critical Incident List for family law applications which are filed in circumstances where there is no parent available to care for a child or children as a result of death (including homicide), critical injury, or incarceration relating to family violence, and orders are sought for parental responsibility to enable appropriate arrangements to be made
    • Deputy Chief Justice

      The Deputy Chief Justice assists the Chief Justice in the judicial administration of the Federal Circuit and Family Court. Particular responsibilities include case management, complaints about judges, the collection and strategic assessment of statistics, pastoral care and oversight of the Court’s committees. In the absence of the Chief Justice, the Deputy Chief Justice performs and exercises the powers of the Chief Justice (s 24).
    • Lighthouse expansion - Update to the Profession April 2023

      The purpose of this update is to focus on the benefits of having a tailored case management approach, including the Evatt List. This update also provides answers to a number of frequently asked questions that the Courts have received. Practitioners are encouraged to review the previous update which was released in February 2023 that focuses on risk and includes links to the Lighthouse Webinar, detailing the Evatt List case management pathway.

The CEO and Principal Registrar’s powers are broad (sections 85 and 251 of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia Act 2021), although the Chief Justice/Chief Judge may give direction (sections 85(3) and 251(3))
