    • Update to the profession No. 3: Commencement of the new Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia

      In the lead up to the commencement of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA) on 1 September 2021, the Family Court of Australia (FCoA) and Federal Circuit Court of Australia (FCC) have previously released two updates for the legal profession and the public to advise them of changes to court operations. This third update provides information on:
    • Family law fees

      The Court does not set the fees payable in the court. Fees are set by Federal Government Regulations - Family Law (Fees) Regulations 2022. The current fees are contained within the gazetted Annual federal courts and tribunals fee increases from 1 July 2025. GST does not apply to court fees.
    • Update to the profession No. 4: Commencement of the new Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia

      On 1 September 2021, the Family Court of Australia (FCoA) and Federal Circuit Court of Australia (FCC) will be amalgamated to create the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA). Division 1 of the FCFCOA will deal only with family law matters, while Division 2 will deal with both family law and general federal law matters.
    • REVOKED - Family Law Practice Direction – Priority Property Pools under $500,000

      This Practice Direction was revoked 30 October 2023 and replaced by Family Law Practice Direction – Priority Property Pool Cases (FAM-PPP).
    • Family law and superannuation

      This fact sheet explains how the law deals with superannuation when couples divide their property after the breakdown of a marriage or de facto relationship.
    • What has changed with the new Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia?

      1 September 2021 marks the commencement of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (the Court). The Court has produced three informative videos that are available on the new website that explain the changes to the Court, what to expect when coming to court, and a video aimed at people who are considering to engage in, or are involved in, family law proceedings in the Court. The videos are available from the following links:
    • REVOKED - Family Law Practice Direction – National COVID-19 List

      This Practice Direction was revoked 3 May 2024.
    • Protecting sensitive information in family law proceedings

      From 10 June 2025, you can ask the court to make an order to protect your sensitive information from being used in family law proceedings.
