    • Update to the profession: Applications for review

      This update provides the profession with information about jurisprudential and other developments that relate to Applications for Review of registrar decisions, since the commencement of the new case management pathway in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (the Court). Commencing 1 September 2021, all Applications for Review are managed nationally and may be heard by a local or interstate judge, including the Chief Justice/Chief Judge and Deputy Chief Justice/Deputy Chief Judge.

    • Information Publication Scheme (IPS)

      The Information Publication Scheme (IPS) aims to transform the freedom of information framework from one that responds to individual requests for access to documents to a proactive approach to publishing information. This applies to both the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1) and Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) (“the Courts”) as prescribed authorities under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth) (FOI Act) The IPS:
    • Lighthouse expansion - Update to the profession August 2023

      The Courts continue to see a high uptake in parties completing the risk screen, with 50% of parties completing the risk screen within 48 hours of receiving the invitation to do so. This impressive response rate means that the Courts’ specialised Lighthouse team are able to provide early service information and support after the filing of a party’s Initiating Application or Response.
    • Practitioner and Litigant Guide to Electronic Hearings

      This Guide is for proceedings conducted in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1) and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) (Courts). The term ‘electronic hearing’ is used throughout this guide to refer to court hearings conducted via electronic means, either videoconferencing or teleconferencing.
