      Grandparents Grand-parenting is a special relationship. Grandparents can help give their own children and their grandchildren the support they need, especially during and after family separation. Sometimes, grandparents take on a more permanent caring role for their grandchildren. There are some valuable resources available to assist with defining your role as a grandparent carer:
    • Update to the profession: Expansion of the Lighthouse Model

      Following Tuesday’s budget announcement, and FCFCOA media release, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1) and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) (the Courts) have been working on the expansion of the Lighthouse model to 15 family law registries
    • Practice and procedure update: New family law Practice Direction released

      A new family law Practice Direction has been issued by the Chief Justice that applies to electronic subpoena inspection in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1) and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2).
    • Supreme Court of Indonesia and the FCFCOA continue strong collaboration in family law outcomes for women and children

      Judges of the FCFCOA visited the Supreme Court of Indonesia in July 2022 to continue discussions under the Memorandum of Understanding between the courts that focuses on improving the quality of services and judicial decisions in family law cases affecting women and children.

      Lighthouse is an innovative approach taken by the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia to screen for risk, with a primary focus on improving outcomes for families.
