      The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia’s recording and transcription contract is with VIQ Solutions. All matters listed before a judge of the Court are recorded. From 3 October 2022, all Senior Judicial Registrar and Judicial Registrar family law court events are also recorded. Prior to this date, family law Registrar events were not recorded unless expressly requested by the Court.
    • Media release: the Court convenes national roundtable discussions on domestic and family violence

      Today, the Chief Justice of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA), the Hon William Alstergren AO is hosting an inaugural National Family Violence Symposium involving approximately 80 key stakeholders from every State and Territory representing the family violence and other related sectors such as those working in frontline services, government, academia, legal and victim support services.

      With today’s commencement of the Family Law Amendment Act 2023 and the Family Law (Information Sharing) Act 2023, amendments have taken effect to four practice directions: Central Practice Direction: Family Law Case Management, Family Law Practice Direction: Parenting Proceedings, Family Law Practice Direction: Financial Proceedings and Family Law Practice Direction: Critical Incident List. In addition, the COVID-19 List Practice Direction has been revoked.

      The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) (‘the Court’) acknowledges the challenges for litigants in North West Tasmania as a result of the absence of suitable premises to conduct the Burnie circuit.       This Practice Direction applies to family law applications seeking orders relating solely to a passport filed in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, including applications for orders to obtain or renew a passport; applications for orders for the delivery of a passport under section 67ZD of the Family Law Act 1975; and applications for injunctions related to passports under sections 68B or 114 of the Family Law Act.
