    • Media release: Chief Justice joins with AFL premiers the Brisbane Lions and Beyond DV to prevent family violence

      On 4 May 2025 the Brisbane Lions hosted their annual 'Domestic and Family Violence prevention Round' at the Gabba, where they took on the Gold Coast Suns. The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia's Chief Justice Will Alstergren AO attended the game to amplify his call for early prevention measures to stop family violence.

      The Chief Justice of the FCFCOA (Division 1 and Division 2) introduced a screening of the powerful documentary created by Safe Steps, Unanswered Calls, which highlights the need for systemic improvement to ensure the voices of children and young people impacted by family violence are heard and help is provided.
    • Media release: New family law Critical Incident List to help make arrangements for children during a time of crisis

      The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia has established a fast-tracked process to help families who need to make appropriate arrangements for children where no parent is available as a result of death, critical injury, or incarceration relating to family violence.

      The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (the Court) and the Victorian Bar have established a referral scheme for pro bono legal assistance (the Scheme) to help unrepresented litigants involved in family law proceedings in the Court, in Victoria.

      More than 80 Judges from the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia have travelled to Alice Springs in the Northern Territory to meet with, listen and learn from Aboriginal families.
