    • Family Law Practice Direction: Parenting proceedings

      This Practice Direction sets out the procedure for all family law proceedings seeking parenting orders or any other order under Part VII of the Family Law Act 1975, save and except for surrogacy proceedings, passport proceedings, medical procedure proceedings or child maintenance proceedings.
    • Parenting orders – obligations, consequences and who can help

      This information is for parents and other people, such as grandparents, who are subject to a parenting order. It includes information, pursuant to section 65DA(2) of the Family Law Act 1975, about the legal obligations created by a parenting order and the consequences that may follow if it is contravened (breached).
    • Notice of child abuse, family violence or risk

      This is a mandatory form that must be filed with any Initiating Application, Response to Initiating Application or Application for Consent Orders seeking parenting orders. This form is not to be filed if the orders sought relate to property or financial matters only.
    • Media release: New family law Critical Incident List to help make arrangements for children during a time of crisis

      The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia has established a fast-tracked process to help families who need to make appropriate arrangements for children where no parent is available as a result of death, critical injury, or incarceration relating to family violence.
    • Commonwealth Child Safe Framework

      This is the Federal Court entity's annual child safety statement in accordance with the fourth requirement under the Commonwealth Child Safe Framework.
    • Financial or property: Child support and maintenance

      When the Court can assist Child support is usually dealt with administratively through Services Australia (Child Support) (Services Australia), rather than through the Court. It is governed primarily by the Child Support (Assessment) Act 1989. The Court may consider child support proceedings only in limited circumstances. This occurs primarily in relation to:
