      The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1) and (Division 2) (the Courts) enthusiastically welcome Ms Hayley Foster to continue the Courts’ progressive work in risk identification and providing better support to separating families who have been impacted by family violence.

      As part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, representatives from the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (the Courts) will be presenting at the STOP Domestic Violence Conference which commenced in Hobart yesterday.

    • Guide for practitioners in the Evatt List

      This Guide summarises the arrangements for the Evatt List which is a specialist list established in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA) to resolve high risk matters. The Evatt List is being trialled in the following registries: Adelaide, Brisbane, and Parramatta.
    • Reconciliation Action Plan - May 2025 to May 2027

      This 2025–2027 Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) reflects the Courts’ continuing commitment to supporting access to justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
    • Subpoena changes

      The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1) and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) are pleased to advise that in response to feedback from the profession, and as part of the Courts’ commitment to modernising court processes, we are introducing eFiling for family law 'Requests to issue a subpoena'. Initially, eFiling will only be available for subpoenas seeking the production of documents where there is an ongoing family law final orders application.
    • Media release: The Courts hosted screening of a powerful documentary that elevates the voices of young victims of domestic and family violence

      The Chief Justice of the FCFCOA (Division 1 and Division 2) introduced a screening of the powerful documentary created by Safe Steps, Unanswered Calls, which highlights the need for systemic improvement to ensure the voices of children and young people impacted by family violence are heard and help is provided.
    • Family Law Practice Direction: Critical Incident List

      This Practice Direction applies to family law applications made in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (the Court) which are filed in circumstances where no parent is available to care for a child or children and orders are sought for parental responsibility to enable appropriate arrangements to be made for the child or children
    • AI Transparency Statement

      The Federal Court of Australia Listed Entity1 (the Entity) is committed to safety and transparency in its adoption of technological innovations, including the use of AI. The Entity proactively monitors advancements in AI, including in relation to potential applications, ethics, regulation and risk.       The Evatt List is a specialist list developed by the Courts where a highly qualified team of Senior Judicial Registrars, Judicial Registrars, Court Child Experts and court staff in consultation with Judges, are allocated to manage eligible cases that are considered to be high risk, through more intensive case management and resources.
