From Monday, 22 June 2026, all requests for transcript of proceedings heard in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1) and Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) (the Courts) must be made by completing the transcript order form.
This change is part of the transition to interim arrangements for the provision of recording and transcript services. This follows the Courts’ previous contractor, VIQ Solutions, entering into administration earlier this year.
The transcript order form must be used for requests for transcript of proceedings heard before or after 22 June 2026.
Orders will be triaged and distributed to a panel of transcript service providers by the Courts’ Recording and Transcript Team.
Transcript will be released to the ordering party on payment of the fee to the transcript service provider. Fees for transcription are set by the transcript service providers.
Any queries regarding transcript services should be directed to: transcripts@fcfcoa.gov.au
For transcript orders placed with VIQ Solutions prior to 22 June 2026, parties and practitioners should continue to contact VIQ Solutions at clientservices@viqsolutions.com or 1800 287 274.
Future arrangements will be focused on a low cost model for transcript services for all litigants, including those most disadvantaged or at risk, at the core of its design.
Regular updates will be provided by the Courts if there are any changes to these arrangements.
