Yes. If you are a party to the proceeding and you are a non-parent of the child/ren (ie. grandparent, aunt/uncle, elder sibling, kinship carer) you are encouraged to complete the risk screening process.
Non-parents of the child/ren are often involved in family law proceedings, and it is important that non-parents complete the risk screen. Whether the non-parent party lives with the child/ren or not, non-parents may be able to identify a range of safety risks that frequently arise in family law proceedings, including child abuse and neglect, family violence, mental health issues, drug or alcohol misuse and high conflict.
By completing a risk screen, you are increasing the opportunity of being provided with tailored support and referrals to support services for any needs or concerns identified during the risk screening process for yourself, the child/ren or the family.
