What will happen when I see a family expert?

What happens depends on what the Family Court wants to learn about your family. The family expert will probably talk to you on your own but will also talk to your siblings if you have them. They might want to see you together with one or each of your parents so they can see how you talk, play and spend time together. This helps the family expert understand you and your relationships.

While you are with the family expert it is really important that you tell them if you feel uncomfortable or don’t understand something. They are there to help, and it is important that they know how you are feeling.
