Feeling surprised face

Surprised (feeling shocked)

  • What it might feel like: A sudden, quick feeling that makes you gasp, open your eyes wide, or jump! It can be a good surprise (like a present!) or a not-so-good one (like a sudden loud noise).
  • When you might feel it: When something unexpected happens, when you get sudden news about family plans or court decisions, or when something you thought would happen, doesn't.
  • What you can do: Take a breath to let the surprise sink in. If it's a confusing surprise, ask questions. If it's a happy one, enjoy it! If it's not a good surprise, tell an adult how it made you feel.
